One of the big reasons I wanted to start a blog was to share with you how to make couponing a little easier. I have had many people come up to me and ask how I get such great deals. So, I thought I would share via my blog.
First of all, I don't do it by myself. I utilize several websites which do the hard work for me! The websites that I use most are www.forthemommas.com , and www.moneysavingmom.com . I have subscribed to the RSS Feed on their sites to get daily emails telling me of their latest posts. I have also become fans of theirs on Facebook and get their status updates!
Each of these sites compile lists each week of deals found at different stores. They will match up the specials and discounted items with coupons allowing you to find great prices on items and sometimes even get items for free. They list the coupons to use by having a link to printable coupons and listing the other coupons by the name of the coupon source and date. (Ex. RP 1/1/11)
There are several inserts that are included with the Sunday newspaper. Redplum=RP, Smart Source=SS, General Mills=GM and Proctor and Gamble=PG. These are the abbreviations that are used to describe each of the inserts. Not all of these inserts will be included each week, but these are the most common ones that show up.
I recommend organizing your coupons according to date and insert name so that it is easier to find when you find the match ups. I simply have hanging file folders and have a folder labeled for each month. When I get my newspaper, I go through and get my inserts and write the date on the front of each one and then place it in the appropriate month's folder. When I need a certain coupon, I go to the month listed and find that insert with the correct date written on it.
So, now you may be asking that's great, but what do I do if I want a coupon for a specific item and my coupons are now organized by date and not by item? Well, these sites also have coupon databases that you can look up a certain item and it will give you a listing of online coupons and coupons by insert name and date.
So, this is a very quick overview of how I am able to save a lot on groceries and other items. I only buy things if they end up being less than the generic would be (except for a few brand name items that I love) and only buy items that I would buy anyway (unless I am able to get it for free or almost free). I have been so blessed by using these sites and hope they help you out as well. Let me know if you have any questions!
